Art Gallery of NSW Character design course
I felt very privileged to be asked to teach again at the Art Gallery of NSW. I teach a basic character design workshop for teenagers, showing them how to use reference for better comics and manga.
The last class I had was fantastic, I'm very pleased to show a couple of my students art here.
Thanks to Emma and Jordon for their excellent work! And thanks again to Dot at the gallery for her invitation.

Tips Tricks & Bits!
Welcome all to the useful part of this blog!
I'm always asked questions by young artists on the "how to" of my illustration stuff, or what I use to do this and that, how do I use my computer, what sort of paper do i use etc.
I'll be posting all sorts of advice regarding anything that I find useful, handy (low tech and high tech) or just plain inspiring for illustration, comics, design and beyond!
I've been helped along by so many generous creatives in my career that I'm hoping to "pay it forward"
Anyhow... as a warm up, here's some new tech from Wacom that looks really exciting!!

Laika didn't have to die
I don't make a habit of reviewing or gushing over great graphic novels. However I read Laika by Nick Abadzis this weekend and damn if it wasn't one of the best graphic novels I've read in ages. This is an emotional charged story that works beautifully as a graphic novel ... so do your self a favor .. end of gushing.
